ALERT!
Date 10-13-2006
Massive early season lake effect snow storm hits Buffalo, NY.
President Bush declares Erie County, New York a Federal Disaster Area
Nearly 2 feet (22.6 inches) of very wet, heavy snow falls in an early season lake effect snow storm. Tree's still fully in leaf are coated with the heavy snow causing extensive tree damage. In fact, nearly 1 out of every 2 trees are damaged so bad that major pruning or complete removal is necessary. Trees decades old and in some cases 100+ years old are reduced to splinters. Those falling trees take with them over 1,000,000 (million) feet of electrical service lines down. (estimated by National Grid) Nearly 500,000 residents of Erie and surrounding counties are without electricity. Hoards of vehicles flocking to the few gas stations with power to fill up. (no power, no gas!). Furnaces, hot water tanks (those with power vents), computers, lighting, hundreds traffic signals all without power. But one of the biggest problems wasn't the heat (or lack there of) it was the millions of dollars of damage caused by basement flooding due to sump pumps without power.
How do I know so much about this.............I live right in the middle of Erie County. My neighborhood was without power and phone service for a few hours short of a week, but not my family. My neighbors scrambled to snap up the last few remaining generators at the local stores but found that gas stations could not fill their gas cans, to fill their generators, but this did not effect my family.............we have a 2000 watt Emergency Backup Power Inverter.
We were able to run our furnace (with a little clever re-wiring), hot water tank, coffee pot, lighting, radio, charge the cell phone (no land line phone service was operable, no 911 service ) and even watch the Buffalo Bills game that Sunday. But most importantly we were able to keep our basement dry and damage free because our sump pump was up and running. BE PREPARED, BUY A VECTOR Emergency Backup Power Inverter, NOW..........BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!
VECTOR MAXX SST POWER INVERTERS are ideal for powering:
Great for use while camping
APPLIANCE POWER CONSUMPTION
Most electrical tools, appliances and audio/video equipment have labels that show the units power consumption in amps, watts, or both. To avoid inverter shutdown, access the items that you would like to run (either individually or running at the same time) and look at the label for the power consumption so that you can choose the Emergency Backup Power Inverters that suits your requirements. Find the power usage in amps and multiply it by the line voltage ( 120VAC) to determine watts.
Example: If an appliance draws 2 amps and the line voltage is 120VAC then 2A x 120 VAC = 240 watts
Further - If you wish to run multiple appliances at the same tame, add the wattage together what size Emergency Backup Power Inverter you need.
Example: 250 watts + 175 watts + 850 watts = 1275 total watts ( a 1500 watt Emergency Backup Power Inverter )
